An agreement has been signed between Fiji Revenue and Customs Authority and Commerce Commission which will ensure that the benefits of the concessions provided by the government is passed on to the consumers.
The agreement will assist the task force established to monitor the price of goods which had received government concessions.
The task force was announced in the 2014 National Budget.
Commerce Commission Chief Executive Officer, Bobby Maharaj said they have started the monitoring exercise in terms of current market prices.
He added that the agreement with FRCA will enable them to obtain relevant information to determine whether or not benefits have been passed on to customers.
FRCA Chief Executive Officer Jitoko Tikoluevu said revenue lost due to concessions last year was over $300 million.
Tikolevu said the concessions was given by government in good faith and must be passed on to the customers.
