Fiji Revenue and Customs Authority Chief Executive Officer, Jitoko Tikolevu said the Authority will be able to enhance border protection of Fiji with the signing of Memorandum of Understanding with the Biosecurity Authority of Fiji.
Tikolevu said the signing of MOU will enable both the agencies to share information, resources and facilities.
Tikolevu added that under the MOU, FRCA will train Biosecurity officers on customs issues that are relevant to the effective implementation of this MOU.
Meanwhile, Biosecurity Authority of Fiji’s Executive Chairman Xavier Riyaz Khan said under the MOU, the Authority and FRCA will be able to present a unified approach to compliance and enforcement of biosecurity and FRCA legislation.
The two agencies also exchanged Standard Operating Procedures.
