Two public officers charged with bribery will appear in court later this month.
It is alleged that Avinesh Lal and Pritam Singh between 2nd March 2015 and 20th March 2015 while being employed as an Auditor and a Tax Officer at Fiji Revenue Customs Authority without lawful authority solicited $15,000 cash from a businessman, as an inducement for abstaining from performing their duties as Public Officers.
It is also alleged that on the 20th of March 2015, Singh received $7,500 in cash and cheque from a businessman as an inducement for abstaining from performing his duty as a Tax Officer at FRCA.
The court has also rejected the bail variation application by the accused saying they found no reason to vary the bail conditions.
Avinesh Lal and Pritam Singh will appear in court on the 29th of this month.
