The Fiji Revenue and Customs Authority is urging people to visit their nearest FRCA office if they need a joint FRCA and FNPF card for tax identification purpose.
Chief Executive Officer Jitoko Tikolevu said this follows concerns received by FRCA that certain service providers are printing Tax Identification Numbers on personal identification cards at a cost.
Tikolevu said printing TIN on personal ID cards does not become the official TAX ID card.
He added that banks and financial institutions are only accepting joint FRCA and FNPF card for tax identification purpose and it is issued free of charge.
Tikolevu stressed that giving your TIN numbers to a third party for producing personal identification cards always has a risk of identity theft and fraud.
He added that service providers are warned not to put TIN numbers on personal ID cards as they can be liable for prosecution.
