The Fiji Revenue and Customs Authority have clarified the claims made against them during an awareness exercise in Taveuni two months ago regarding the electronic voter registration cards.
This is after aspiring politician Roshika Deo said that she went to Taveuni to collect signatures and was informed that the Fiji Revenue and Customs Authority officers took about 200 voter registration cards in April and it has not been returned.
Deo said most of the card owners wanted to sign up for her.
However FRCA CEO Jitoko Tikolevu said his officers were in Taveuni last week and 17 cards were returned to farmers in South Taveuni.
He said the Authority conducted awareness in Taveuni in May where members of the public were offered an opportunity to apply for the joint FRCA/FNPF card.
Jikolevu added where electricity was available documents were either scanned or photocopied and returned to applicants on the spot.
But for others they were informed that due to the volume of applications and the availability of shipping services to the island the cards would be delivered within a month.
