The Fiji Roads Authority will be carrying out 8 projects in their Suva Arterial Road Upgrading Project.
Acting CEO Robert Sen says the roads that will be worked on are Queens Road (Tamavua‑i‑wai bridge to Lami Bridge), Edinburgh Drive (Walu bay round‑about to FNU lights), Ratu Mara Road (FNU lights to Lakeba Street lights), Kings Road A (Nabua round‑about to Centrepoint lights), Kings Road E (Centrepoint lights to Kinoya lights), Kings Road B (Laqere lights to Makoi lights), MacArthur Street and Gaji Road.
FRA is currently upgrading Mead Road, Ratu Mara Road near the Mead Road roundabout to the Kinoya lights.
Sen says the process involves milling out existing asphalt surface, stabilization of existing road pavement with Foam Bitumen Stabilization, using cement, bitumen and water and finally with asphalt to seal off the surface.
He says there will be another layer of asphalt on top which will be the final finish road surface on the Ratu Mara stretch of road.
The 2017/2018 budget allocation for the Fiji Roads Authority is $527.5 million, comprising $26.8 million for operating expenditure and $500.8 million for capital expenditure.
