From 5am tomorrow traffic from Ellery Street in Suva City will again be able to turn left onto Renwick Road, to exit onto Pratt Street.
The Fiji Roads Authority has also made it clear that the existing, right turn movement out of Ellery Street onto Renwick Road will remain for the two lanes through to Waimanu Road.
FRA says the final phase of this work, the directional changes in Renwick Road, that was implemented earlier this week has been closely monitored throughout its operation.
The Authority says it has been noted that right‑of‑way restrictions, parking and off‑loading practices along Renwick Road have made the changes in Renwick Road less effective than expected.
FRA says they do not wish to perpetuate a solution that is not meeting expectation so with effect from tomorrow morning, they will be reverting to the lane and direction arrangement that was in place prior to the recent change.
They also say that as this was only a trial operation, the extent of work required to revert to the previous arrangement is minor and disruption will be minimal during the time the changes are taking place.
The Authority says over recent months, FRA has been working within the Suva City Centre to realign roads and redirect traffic.
They remain of the opinion that the centre of Suva is not efficiently operational from a transportation perspective and they will continue to seek improvement through the Greater Suva Transportation Study that is scheduled to report on findings by mid‑2019.
