The Fiji Roads Authority has begun replacing the 11 sets of traffic lights that was announced in the beginning of this year.
FRA’s Acting Program Manager Electrical Musheer Khan says works on Mark Street and Thompson Street has been completed while the Nabua and Nakasi traffic lights are still being worked on.
He adds works on Rodwell Road and the Stinson Parade lights will start next week.
Khan has confirmed that works on the Lakeba street traffic lights will begin this weekend while the BSP Namaka lights installation is underway.
He says the upcoming lights to be replaced are the Samabula FNU/ Grantham, Cunningham and Laqere lights.
Khan adds that the faulty and obsolete halogen lanterns on the traffic signals are currently being replaced to LED lanterns by FRA's in‑house traffic signal team.
He says FRA is committed to improving safety for the road users and the new traffic signal will better manage the flow of traffic.
