The Fiji Roads Authority has completed works on three bridges in Levuka and they are now accessible to the public.
The Vuma Box, Naisogo and Levuka Market Bridges on Ovalau Circular Road are now opened and will benefit over 9000 people.
FRA Chief Executive Officer, Jonathan Moore says the concrete bridge structure has now replaced the previous Vuma Box and Naisoqo Bridge, which will improve access and bring great relief to the community, especially to school children and farmers.
He says the Vuma and Naisogo Bridges have been transformed from a single‑lane bridge to a standard structure with increased structural capacity.
Moore says the FRA is committed to protecting and maintaining Levuka the UNESCO World Heritage Site.
The CEO says the Levuka Market Bridge is considered to be a heritage site and it was constructed to replicate the old bridge.
