The Fiji Roads Authority has appointed two contractors, Higgins Fiji and Dayals Quarries to complete remaining work on Kings Road between Rewa Bridge and 9‑Miles.
Fiji Roads Authority’s Chief Executive Officer Jonathan Moore says both the contractors have worked with them on a number of projects and have done exceptional quality of work.
He says this is one of the crucial projects of the FRA to improve traffic flow and they have full faith in both the contractors to get the job done.
Work on the project is set to start tomorrow and is anticipated to be completed by June next year.
The FRA had terminated China Railway First Group’s contract due to delays.
The FRA had stated that over recent months FRA has been working with China Railway First Group to try to get the project back on track but these efforts have not been successful and the project has fallen further behind programme.
Moore says the section of Kings Road that was to be delivered by China Railway is entry to Fiji for many visitors and the continued and increasing delays to completion has been deemed unacceptable, resulting in the termination.
