Preparations for this year’s Fiji Performing Rights Association Music Awards night have been boosted after FPRA received $5,000 from Communications Fiji Limited for the sponsorship of the Most Popular Song Award.
FPRA Music Awards Coordinator Seru Serevi says that this is the fourth year of the Music Awards that CFL is sponsoring of the Most Popular Song Award.
Serevi says that the Most Popular Song Award is amongst 14 other categories and one that most artists will look forward to.
Viti FM’s Programmes Director Maikeli Radua says that they are very proud to be supporting local artists and local music from its beginning stages to being on a National stage like the FPRA Music awards.
The 15 categories are Best Composition, Best English Song, Best iTaukei Song, Best Hindi Song, Best Gospel Song, Best Hip-Hop Song, Artist of the Year, Best New Artist, Most Popular Music Video, Most Popular Song, International Achievement, Outstanding Service to Fijian Music, Best Recording Engineer, Hall of Fame Award, and for the first this year the Tom Mawi Best Guitarist Award.
The FPRA Music Award Nominations will be announced on the 13th of next month, while the FPRA Music Awards will be held on the 13th of May at the Grand Pacific Hotel.
