The Fiji National University says it is in no position to guarantee a place of accommodation for every student this year.
FNU Vice Chancellor Professor Nigel Healey in an interview with Fijivillage stated this while answering a concern raised by a FNU student who was not given an accommodation at the FNU Derrick Campus.
Professor Healey says that it is in their accommodation policy to accommodate people depending on their resident proximity from the student campus.
Healey says that due to the renovation processes going on at every FNU campus around Fiji they had to accommodate 10% of the students total population at every campus.
FNU Vice Chancellor says that they are looking for other alternative ways such as home stay to help those students that were not given any accommodation.
He adds the renovation process will take a few months and they hope that the accommodation issue is fixed in a few months’ time.
Healey highlighted that the accommodation problem has been a re-occurring issue due to the increase in the number of students that wants to live on-campus for the past 2-3 years.
