The Fiji National University Students’ Association is looking forward to an increase in university grant and direct allocations to FNU in the 2019/2020 National Budget to build more hostels and improve accommodation.
FNU Students’ Association National President Ketan Lal says many students prefer FNU.
The Fiji National University was allocated $65.1 million in the 2018/2019 National Budget.
Lal says the Association supports the idea of the digital world and strongly supports the initiatives of free wifi, however he says students lack gadgets such as laptops and labs become smaller day by day. He says if all students have laptops, they will definitely complete assignments on time.
When FijiVillage asked about the FNU Student Association’s expectations from the government in terms of employment, Lal says so far they have not received any formal concerns related to employment by their alumni or students, from which they conclude students are working or have some form of employment and they go back to study more as well.
Lal says the government’s YES initiative is a good example which can be emphasized more at university level, and with this awareness they are sure students will benefit once they graduate and use this platform to launch themselves.
Lal says the FNU Students’ Association looks forward to a student friendly budget and hopes the government provides more Free Education benefits for all students.
Lal says the government has supported the university with grants which made FNU one of the best universities in the South Pacific and they look forward to more support this year.
