The Fiji Labour Party welcomes the recommendations of the UN Human Rights Council following its Universal Periodic Review on the human rights situation in Fiji.
FLP Leader Mahendra Chaudhry said while these are encouraging recommendations, the party maintains that there is no need to go through the additional expenses and time-consuming task of yet another review of the constitution.
Chaudhry said the draft Ghai Constitution should be reinstated and put through parliament for its approval.
He added that the Ghai draft addresses the main concerns of the UN Human Rights Council.
