The Fiji Labour Party has revealed that it will review the Land Transport Authority’s operations if it comes into power after the general election.
The FLP said this includes a review of all fees and charges as they have received many complaints from the drivers.
FLP has also revealed that they will scrap the unpopular road user levy and will remove the defect notice fine of $14.50.
Leader, Mahendra Chaudhry confirmed that Labour will also increase the speed limit to ensure a better traffic flow without endangering road safety.
The party said in its manifesto which is being released in parts that they will rationalise the issuing of taxi permits as they believe the permits are being issued unfairly.
FLP claimed that some big companies or individuals own over 100 permits and use these to engage contract drivers on unfair terms.
They are also proposing that pre-warning signs be placed at least one kilometer before speed limit zones and inspection check points.
FLP also said that the frequency of vehicle inspection checks will be reduced so that motorists are not harassed on a daily basis.
LTA is expected to comment later.
