The Fiji Labour Party has promised to remove VAT from other basic food items.
While talking to about 30 people at Mamas place Caubati last night, FLP’s proposed candidate Anendra Prasad said they intend to remove VAT on about 48 items as they wanted to do in 2000.
When asked on how FLP will replace the income lost by removing VAT, Prasad said they will ensure they invest more in the country and tighten more on government spending.
Items which already do not have VAT include Flour, Sharps, rice, tinned fish, cooking oil, medicine and powdered milk.
