FICAC has charged two former Sales and Marketing officers of Fiji Forest Industries, Manwar Buksh and Salend Chetty who allegedly operated a side business within Fiji Forest and obtained financial advantages.
The two allegedly operated a private business, Tropex Marketing, from within the Fiji Forest Industries premises and diverted commercial business to Tropex Marketing.
They allegedly informed potential Fiji Forest Industries customers that there were no timber stocks so that the customers would purchase it from their side business at inflated prices allowing the two to obtain $119,542.06 between October 2014 and June 2016.
Labasa Magistrate Cama Tuberi released both the accused on bail and issued a Stop Departure Order.
The matter has been adjourned to 29th July.
