The Fiji Human Rights and Anti-Discrimination Commission has been asked to appear before the Parliamentary Standing Committee to provide answers on some important issues.
Commission’s Officer-In-Charge, Rajinesh Mishra has advised the Parliamentary Standing Committee through a written document that it welcomes the timely review being conducted with a view to ratify the United Nations Convention Against Torture.
Parliamentary Standing Committee member, Semi Koroilavesau said they want to know about the complaints that the Fiji Human Rights and Anti-Discrimination Commission has received and what they have done with it and it is necessary for the Commission to be present in the meeting.
Fellow Standing Committee members, Tupou Draunidalo and Neil Sharma also shared similar sentiments.
The Chairman of the Parliamentary Standing Committee, Netani Rika has asked the Commission to appear before them tomorrow.
