The Foundation for the Education of Needy Children In Fiji’s 461 kilometre walkathon around Viti Levu has begun today which aims to raise funds for children.
The walkathon has 12 participants who began their journey at 4am from Suva City and will walk 461 kilometers around Viti Levu, visiting 37 villages and 11 cities and towns.
Miss World Fiji 2017 and FENC Fiji Ambassador Nanise Rainima, rugby players Viliame Satala, Semisi Naevo and Vilimone Delasau are among the participants.
The ‘Walk for Education and Zero Tolerance against Child Abuse’ aims to raise $100,000 to fund the educational needs of 400 children from low income families.
The money collected will go towards providing school bags, exercise books, two sets of uniforms, stationary and sandals for the children.
They also aim to build a Learning Centre in Nasinu Town.
