The Fiji Electricity Authority will be carrying out the replacement of the 132,000 volts circuit breaker at the Vuda Zone Substation tomorrow.
They will also simultaneously carry out repair and maintenance work on the Nadarivatu to Vuda Transmission line tomorrow.
FEA Chief Executive Officer, Hasmukh Patel says that a new circuit breaker at Cunningham Road Substation was successfully connected and commissioned last weekend.
Patel says the new circuit breaker at Vuda Substation will be connected and commissioned from 6am to 6pm tomorrow.
He says in order to carry out this replacement FEA will not be able to transmit electricity from Wailoa and Nadarivatu Hydro Power Stations to the Western Division.
Patel adds that this is to enable FEA engineers to de-energize the 132,000 volts transmission line from Nadarivatu Power Station to the Vuda Substation.
However he says that during this time FEA will rely on their Diesel Power Stations at Sigatoka, Qeleloa, Nadi, Vuda and Rakiraki to supply electricity to the Western Division.
Patel says that the replacement of the old circuit breaker with a new one will reduce the power outages due to lightning strikes.
FEA has also sought the assistance and support of Hotels and Corporate customers to operate their own standby Generator Sets independently to cater for their power requirements from 4am to 8pm tomorrow.
FEA says it will ensure that power interruptions are kept to a minimum.
