The Fiji Electricity Authority will carry out major maintenance work at its Wailoa Power Station over the Easter long weekend and people may experience intermittent power supply interruptions in the event of a failure of any diesel generating sets.
The works will be carried out from 10pm next Thursday to 6am Tuesday 3rd April where FEA will replace the main inlet valve on the fourth turbine at the Wailoa Power Station.
The FEA says critical work needs to be carried out over a long weekend as this exercise is time consuming with teams working around the clock in shifts.
The FEA Engineers will need to shut off the Wailoa Power Station.
The FEA says they will rely on the Diesel Power Stations at Kinoya, Deuba, Rokobili and Korovou to supply electricity to their customers in the Central Division from Matanipusi to Korovou.
Power supply for the Western Division customers will be from the Nadarivatu Power Station and the diesel sets in Rakiraki, Vuda, Qeleloa, Nadi and Sigatoka.
The FEA says with the available generators in the Western and Central Divisions, and with the cooperation of major customers who will go off the FEA grid, they expect to supply electricity all their customers in the Central and Western Division as usual.
