The Fiji Electricity Authority has confirmed that there are still many places which are not accessible due to washed access, eroded river banks and crossings, due to flooding and strong winds where power poles have either fallen or tilted causing delays in restoration of overhead power lines.
FEA Chief Executive Officer Hasmukh Patel says their teams are working long hours to repair and restore power supply to the affected areas.
Patel says in many of the locations there were fallen trees on the power lines which are being cleared before they started with repairs to the power lines.
Meanwhile, 10%of the areas in Korolevu and Naitasiri have had their power restored, 45% in Sigatoka, 50% in the Korovou District, 75% in the Nadi District, 90% in the Tavua District, 92% in the Ba and Naurosi areas while 98% of the areas in Lautoka have been restored with power supply.
