The Fiji Electricity Authority will be carrying out maintenance works on the 132,000 volts transmission line from Wailoa to Cunningham today.
FEA CEO Hasmukh Patel has confirmed that the maintenance works will be carried out from 4am‑8pm and as a result, the transmission line from the Wailoa Hydro Electric Power Station to Cunningham Substation will be switched off.
He adds that the planned outage is to allow FEA teams to safely replace corroded bolts on the 132,000 volts transmission line tower in Nakobalevu in Colo‑i‑Suva.
Patel says that during this period FEA will solely rely on their Diesel Power Stations at Kinoya, Korovou, Rokobili and Deuba to supply electricity to the Central Division.
This will include areas from Serua, Deuba, Navua, Suva, Nausori, Korovou and Tailevu.
Patel says that these areas may experience power supply outages during the time the works are being carried out, however, FEA will work to ensure that these power interruptions are kept to a minimum.
