This was highlighted by the Roko Tui Cakaudrove Filimone Naiqumu after the commissioning of the Fiji Electricity Authority Grid Extension at Daku and Naverea settlements by Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama.
Naiqumu says this FEA Grid Extension initiative will benefit 13 households.
He says they are very grateful to the current government for allowing the village for the first time ever to use electricity.
Naiqumu says that prior to the Grid Extension initiative, students would study by candlelight and lanterns adding that this has definitely improved their standard of living.
Meanwhile, $42.6 million has been allocated to electrify homes in rural areas around Fiji this year with 1,506 households top benefit in the Northern division.
