Motorists, local businesses and up to 2,000 residents living along Mead Road can expect improved road conditions once rehabilitation works are completed soon.
Fiji Roads Authority’s contractor Fulton Hogan Hiways began the rehabilitation work this month, which includes both lanes towards MH Super fresh.
Fulton Hogan Hiways Project Manager, Ciaron Kelly says that the sections of the roads to be repaired are heavily potholed and, in some sections, show signs of structural damage.
Kelly adds that the road has been affected by the stress of heavily loaded vehicles and inclement weather, causing deterioration of the road surface and numerous potholes that are difficult for motorists to avoid.
He says that works will include milling out the deteriorated sections, cement stabilisation, application of a two‑coat seal and new road markings for the sections.
Kelly says that the many pedestrians and vehicles that travel via Mead Road will benefit from the rehabilitation work.
