Those were the comments made by the Commissioner of Police, Ben Groenwald to the twenty three Police officers today after meeting them for the first time, after spending more than a year on overseas mission in both Darfur and Liberia.
Twenty officers had served 15 months with the United NationsBAfrican Union Mission in Darfur, while three served a year of duty with the United Mission in Liberia.
Commissioner Groenewald in welcoming the officers during the Reintegration Program at the Fiji Police Academy said he was a career police officer for 42 years.
He said he works with the principles of transparency and independence and do not entertain favouritism and they must earn the right to get ahead in the Force.
He commended them on their work at the respective mission areas however they must now leave the past behind and focus on the future and must put their shoulder to the wheel and work.
Commissioner Groenewald said Fiji had undergone significant developments in both the political and social front, and as such every officer of the Fiji Police Force had to be fully aware of what was expected of them in as far as democratic policing was concerned.
