Where were all the SODELPA executives and MPs leading up to the Rio Olympic Games and where were all these ideas before the Fiji 7s team left?
Those are the words of Prime Minister and President of the Fiji Rugby Union, Voreqe Bainimarama after SODELPA released two statements with a list of rewards that should be given to the 7s team.
Bainimarama says everyone in the SODELPA camp now want to politicize the win by our boys.
The Prime Minister also raised the question on whether any of them ever attended a fundraiser to support our 7s boys.
He says these are only a bunch of losers trying to politicize the win by the Fiji 7s team.
SODELPA Leader Sitiveni Rabuka had said in a statement that each 7s player should be given a fully furnished house and land and a minimum tax free cash grant of $50,000, a handsome contract for Ben Ryan and fully loaded Toyota 4 wheel drive, citizenship, a diplomatic passport as well as a tax free cash grant of $80,000 for Ryan, all individual 7s players, assistant coach and manager to be offered a passport for life, Ben Ryan to be honored with a Companion of Order Fiji Medal, Osea Kolinisau to be honored with Officer of the Order of Fiji, the Vice Captain Jasa Veremalua to be given the Member of the Order of Fiji and the rest of the team players to honored with the Medal of the Order of Fiji, a commemorative coin to be done for the gold medal win, Osea Kolinisau to be offered fee free tuition to complete his university education and a secured job with the Ministry for Youth and Sports, all team members to be offered tuition free TVET paths to become rugby coaches or other courses of choice and increased budget allocation for the Fiji rugby 7s team and each contracted player to get salaries of $30,000 each.
