“Every parent should take time out to read books to their children”.

Education Minister Dr. Mahendra Reddy made this comment at the World Book Day and Copyright Day celebration at the Government Information Referral Center in Suva today.

Dr. Reddy said that reading out to children will enable them to take interest in books.

He said this will also help children to capture those knowledge that are written in the books and it will help them to adopt good understanding.

A year 13 student from Rampur College, Keshally Antonio shares her interest in reading.

Year 13 student from Ratu Kadavu Levu School Uraia Naiko said that reading improved his skills in writing and enabled him to understand the world better.

Meanwhile, students present during the celebrations were also given a chance to write a few sentences in a book titled ‘The Market Day’ which will be launched during the National Library Day in September.
