The time for speaking softly in the fight against Climate Change is over.
This is one of the many powerful statements which the Prime Minister, Voreqe Bainimarama made at the closing of the 3rd Pacific Islands Development Forum Summit in Suva.
Bainimarama said Pacific Island countries need to cry out with one voice as enough is enough.
He told fellow Pacific leaders and delegates that they should not let the world betray countries in the Pacific.
Bainimarama then said that the PIDF in its fight against climate change is strong and relevant to the lives of all Pacific Islanders.
Fiji and five other Pacific Island countries have officially signed and endorsed the Pacific Islands Development Forum Charter which will allow the organisation to be internationally recognised.
Fiji, Tonga, Marshall Islands, Solomon Islands, Nauru and the Federated States of Micronesia have endorsed the Charter.
Prime Minister, Voreqe Bainimarama who is also the Chairman of the PIDF Governing Council also announced the appointment of Francois Martel as the new PIDF Secretary General.
Martel will officially take up the position on the 19th of October.
