All employees working on the Fiji Day public holiday on Saturday should get double pay.
Assistant Director Labour Standard Services Atish Kumar says this is a gazetted public holiday therefore anyone working on Saturday must be paid double time.
Kumar says that there is a condition to this that whoever works on the Fiji Day Public Holiday must work the day before it and the day after it.
He says if people do not work on Sunday then they must go to work on Monday.
Kumar adds that their taskforce officers will be on the ground to make sure that the people who are working this Saturday are paid accordingly.
A penalty notice will be issued by the Ministry if this is not followed.
