"My brother was my only support who I lost in Tropical Cyclone Winston."
This was the sentiment shared by 48-year-old Jitendra Lal of Saru Back Road, Tawatawa, Lautoka who lost his brother 49-year-old Ravindra Lal during the height of Cyclone Winston.
Lal says he and his brother were at home when the strong winds picked up at about 8pm Saturday.
Lal says he asked his brother to go into his room and that is when his room was blown away.
An emotional Lal says he was also blown out of the house and buried under the corrugated iron and timber.
He says it took him some time to remove the things and look for his brother.
Lal says when he found his brother, he was bleeding heavily.
He says he took his brother to hospital on Sunday but later passed on Monday.
Meanwhile 18-year-old Achel Ashika Kumar of Ra says she had to spend two days in a van as their house was destroyed in Winston.
Kumar says it was a horrifying moment for her and her family.
She says although they studied in tents, Ra High School had 94% pass rate in Year 12 and 76 percent in Year 13.
