A 28-year-old electrician has been sentenced to 10 months imprisonment by the Nausori Magistrates Court for stealing 28 circuit breakers.
Richnaal Ravinesh Singh had pleaded guilty to 14 counts of theft, 14 counts of damaging property and 14 counts of criminal trespass.
On 25th October this year in Naitasiri, Singh had entered into the compound of 12 houses and two churches and stole 28 circuit breakers and also damaged their metre box.
Magistrate Shageeth Somaratne said that Singh had also deceived the victims by showing that he was working for Suva Electric.
Magistrate Somaratne stated that Singh’s reason for committing these offences was to provide food for his home and to pay rent.
He adds that by providing comfort to his home, Singh closed his eyes to the hardships the public could face in this area when he damaged the FEA supplies in their homes.
