The trial date of an elderly couple who allegedly raped a 14-year-old girl in Nasinu in August last year has been set from the 4th to 8th of December, 2017.
The 60-year-old man is charged with two counts of rape, one count of indecently annoying a person and one count of sexual assault while his 60-year-old wife is charged with aiding and abetting the offence of rape.
Both pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The defence lawyer told the court that they deny the rape charge and will be challenging the parents of the complainant as the matter was reported a week after the alleged incident.
High Court Judge Justice Salesi Temo has granted bail to the man while his wife’s bail has been extended.
The couple and the 14-year-old girl are neighbours.
