Minister for Health Jone Usamate says the Zika virus is very similar to dengue and Chikungunya but the effect of the Zika virus on people is far less than dengue.
He says Dengue can lead to bleeding and death while Chikungunya can be much more paralyzing compared to the impact of the Zika Virus which is very mild.
The Health Minister says Fiji had two cases of Zika in August last year.
These two were people from the Northern Pacific Islands who were passing through Fiji.
