Education officials from six Pacific Island countries, including Fiji are currently undergoing training on how to analyse their education data and communicate it so that decision‑makers can apply it to make quality decisions.
Fiji Education’s data team leader Sandeep Singh says the training was important because the ministry has yet to maximise on the exhaustive data it has collected through its information management system.
The workshop aims to build capacity in education data analysis.
Singh also briefly touched on what his team hopes to achieve at the end of the workshop.
UNESCO’s education specialist Gail Townsend says each country team came to the workshop with a specific issue or question they wanted to investigate through the use of their data.
The training workshop which is being jointly organised by the Pacific Community’s education programme and the Apia‑based UNESCO Office for the Pacific States will conclude today.
