Fiji’s Youth representative to the Pacific Islands Development Forum, Krishneil Narayan says the Ministry of Education should take a further step and improve climate change education in the school curriculum.
Although the Ministry of Education may already be doing this at a certain level within schools around the country, Narayan says they need to ensure that teachers and students are given the correct message of climate change.
Narayan says the Ministry of Education has slightly failed in this area.
The Pacific Islands Development Forum will finish this afternoon with the formulation of the PIDF Charter and the Suva Declaration.
A new PIDF Secretary General will also be appointed.
Former Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs, Amena Yauvoli is currently the PIDF Acting Secretary General.
