4,742 cases of cancer were recorded between 2010 to 2013 in Fiji.
The Minister for Health Jone Usamate highlighted this during the launch of World Cancer Day at the CWM Hospital today.
Usamate says from 2014 to the month of June last year, 248 cases of breast cancer and 236 cases of cervical cancer were recorded.
He says many cases go unreported because people do not take the ownership of their sickness.
The Minister says that early detection is the best prevention.
