The European Union together with the Pacific Community (SPC) handover equipment valued at $300,000 to the Ministry of Agriculture.
EU Ambassador Andrew Jacobs says the equipment is expected to assist the ministry in providing services to farmers and farming community in Fiji’s Sugarcane belt.
Jacobs says the initiative would also support the production and trading of horticulture crops in Fiji.
The Director General of the Pacific Community Doctor Colin Tukuitoga says they continue to work with farmers to develop their horticulture production in communities that have high income dependence upon the production and harvesting of sugarcane.
He says the initiative will work towards the improvement and enhancement of agricultural services to allow sugarcane farmers to increase their income, access to seedlings and provision of practical training.Listen to the latest news on our 5 radio stations Legend FM, Viti FM, Radio Sargam, FM96 and Navtarang.
