EU launches new project in Fiji

EU launches new project in Fiji
EU Ambassador to Fiji and the Pacific, Andrew Jacobs.

The European Union and Civil Society Organisations in Fiji have launched a project focusing on the access to justice for marginalized women.

The EU Ambassador to Fiji and the Pacific, Andrew Jacobs says they are committed to ensuring that women and Lesbian Bisexual and Transwomen have non‑discriminatory access to justice.

Jacobs says they will be supporting national research, consultation, information sessions and rural campaign.

He says this research will target approximately 300 trans‑gender women in three divisions to examine the level of sexual and gender based violence faced by trans‑gender people.

This project will be implemented by the Fiji Women’s Rights Movement, FemLINKPACIFIC and will provide support to DIVA for Equality Fiji and Haus of Khameleon.

European Union funding for the project will finish in 2018.
