FijiFirst General Secretary and Minister for Economy Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum says that people do not pay Environment and Climate Adaption Levy and Service Turnover Tax on groceries.
Sayed-Khaiyum says that he has heard some people campaigning that they will remove these taxes from groceries and the cost of living will go down.
He says that ECAL and STT applies to certain services which are labelled as luxury items.
Sayed-Khaiyum adds that ECAL and STT apply to companies that earn more than $1.25 million.
