Two men have each been sentenced to 16 months imprisonment for aggravated robbery and theft by Chief Magistrate Usaia Ratuvili today.
They pleaded guilty to robbing the house of a man in Lakeba on the 27th of January last year.
The two men were drunk when the incident happened.
While delivering his sentence, Magistrate Ratuvili said the two men stole cartons of wine and rum and cola from the house.
The Magistrate said he considered that the two men had elderly parents and were remorseful as mitigating factors.
He considered as an aggravating factor that the complainant continued to suffer a loss after the incident.
Magistrate Ratuvili set a sentence of 16 months for the first count of aggravated robbery and 6 months for the second count of theft.
They will be served concurrently.
