The volume of sugarcane may significantly drop next year if there is not enough rain.
Fiji Sugar Corporation Chairman, Abdul Khan said the dry weather spell has had a slight impact on the crop as there was not enough rain in August and September.
He added due to better cane quality and mill efficiency the sugar production is seen to be slightly better than what was forecast and planned.
Khan also said the amount of sugar already manufactured is about 162 thousand tonnes and they have processed just under 1.4 million tonnes of sugarcane.
