Driver in custody for allegedly bribing a police officer

A driver is in custody at the Nausori Police station for allegedly bribing a police officer.

The 26-year-old suspect was stopped by a highway team conducting radar operations along the Kings Road near Koronivia yesterday.

While in the process of executing the arrest, the suspect allegedly bribed the officer with $10 to let him go.

The driver’s 23-year-old passenger also tried to obstruct the two officers during the arrest and tore the second officers uniform.

Both suspects were allegedly intoxicated.

They remain in custody as investigations continue.
