Former senior military officer Pita Driti’s appeal against conviction and sentence has been dismissed by the Fiji Court of Appeal.
Driti was sentenced to five years in prison with a non-parole term of 4 years in December 2013 for inciting mutiny.
Driti had filed the appeal against conviction and sentence but on 10th June this year he filed an application for leave to abandon the appeal.
At the hearing Driti confirmed that the application had been made voluntarily.
Driti said that the application was made on the basis that he had served a substantial part of his sentence.
The application to abandon the appeal against both conviction and sentence has been granted and the appeal is dismissed.
