Attorney General Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum says domestic violence should not be relegated to private space as it is very much related to business and part and parcel of our economy and society.
While speaking at the official announcement of the Fiji National Women’s Expo 2015 at the Suva Wharf, Sayed-Khaiyum says thinking that women empowerment, domestic violence and child abuse is something not related to finance, commerce and productivity is completely false.
He further adds the issue of gender empowerment, corruption and sustainable economy are apolitical issues and it should never be politicized.
600 women will participate in the 2nd National Women’s Expo starting from next Wednesday at the Vodafone Arena.
The government has given $500,000 for the Expo which will end next Friday.
