A team of nine doctors will be in the country next month to perform heart surgeries on babies, free of charge.
Ministry of Health Spokesperson Sunil Chandra says 35 to 40 children have already been screened by a specialist from the same hospital in an earlier visit and these children will be the priority.
Chandra says the operations will be carried out from the 8th to 18th of next month at the CWM hospital.
The Ministry confirms that this is the first time for this cardiac team from India to visit Fiji.
Meanwhile, to help with the surgeries, blood drives have been organized by the Children’s Heart Foundation on the 6th and 12th of next month at the Ratu Sukuna Park from 8.30am till 5pm.
