21‑year‑old Diwashna Darshika Kumar will be advocating more about sexual harassment during the 2019 Vodafone Tebara Carnival.
Kumar who is pursuing a Diploma in Early Childhood Education and Care at the University of the South Pacific is one of the 7 Queen contestants who will be vying for the 2019 Vodafone Tebara Carnival Queen’s crown.
Kumar says with the 2019 theme “Working towards a safe environment for all” she would like to see that sexual harassment of women and children be eliminated from our nation.
She says people should feel safe in their own community and be comfortable with everyone they meet.
Kumar says one of the reasons she would like to advocate on such a broader topic is that today sexual harassment cases are frequent and children as young as 3 months are becoming victims of rape.
The 2019 Vodafone Tebara Carnival will be held from this Saturday to the 1st of June at Syria Park in Nausori.
