The Housing Authority is still having discussions with the contractor for the billion dollar Waila City Project.
Local Government Minister Parveen Kumar said the design and the Build Master Agreement were signed in May 2012.
While questioning Kumar in parliament, SODELPA parliamentarian Jiosefa Dulakiverata asked him what is the requisite timeframe for the design and agreement between the Housing Authority and Top Symphony regarding the Waila City development.
Kumar said the agreement is valid for 7 years.
He said discussions continue to be held between Housing Authority and the contractor to ensure that the final agreed pricing is affordable for the people.
The proposed Waila City spreads over 800 acres of land.
The development at its completion will be home to approximately 5,000 families and will be complemented with a complete central business district serviced with commercial, industrial, recreational, health, educational and religious facilities.
43 percent of the houses in Waila City were to be affordable housing, 41 percent medium cost and 16 percent were targeted for high end buyers.
