There was a sigh of relief among disadvantaged parents and students who received stationery packs from Janty Kanavan Limited through the Ministry of Women, Children and Poverty Alleviation yesterday.
Janty Kanavan Limited who has been assisting the disadvantaged children has partnered with the Ministry and today provided 200 stationery packs which will be distributed to the underprivileged students who have already been identified.
A mother of eight, Shireen Lata who has been begging on the streets to support her children said the assistance has come at the right time as she was facing difficulties in sending her three children to school.
Similar sentiments were shared by a widow and a mother of a 12-year-old girl, Anna Nalatu who said her daughter will now be attending school.
The other stationery packs will be distributed to students in the Western division from tomorrow as the Minister for Women, Children and Poverty Alleviation continues her public consultation.
