The development of sports and gender equality were two main goals of the Fijian Government.
This was highlighted by Minister for Women, Children and Poverty Alleviation Mereseini Vuniwaqa while officially opening the Knockout of the 2017 Netball season this morning at the Vodafone Arena.
Vuniwaqa adds that Netball in Fiji is a very significant part of almost every girl's life while growing up, but now it has drawn interest to involve men and boys also to play the sport.
Vuniwaqa also encouraged young Fijian girls and women to break free from their limitations and play sports that interest them.
Meanwhile 25 teams will be participating in the 2017 Netball Opening Knockout season while the final of the elimination stages will be played at 6.30pm this afternoon.
